About two worldwide culture theories

We all know without being able to tell it in words what culture is. I could off course ask the question what is culture, but that would get me a lot of different answers. Most answers would only address a certain part of culture, but all together they would give a good idea of what people understand culture to be.

So what is culture. The best answer would be:

All human behavior directed at solving certain common problems humans encounter in daily live.
What does this mean? Well this means that culture is everything from the way we string words into a sentence to the clothes we wear. The fact that most countries drive at the right hand side of the road and a few on the left. That some countries are dictatorships while others are democracies. That some countries have made education free for all while others use private education.

Is capitalism the solution

In a previous article I pointed out some faulty assumptions that many capitalist carry about capitalism. Assumption like everybody is equal, everybody loves competition, everybody becomes better through pain. Although these assumptions are incorrect, as nobody is created equal or the same, most people find competition terrible and only a few people learn from being hurt, that does not mean that capitalism is all bad.

Capitalism hooraah, cough ugh aargghh

Capitalism is seen by many as the solution to all economic and social problems humans can encounter. The assumption behind capitalism however is wrong. Because capitalism assumes that all humans are equal. Which means capitalist think that everybody is like them. Which off course is wrong as most capitalist are men, and we know for sure that the human race is not only made up from men. So the first assumption of capitalist is proven wrong by nature, namely that all humans are equal. Behind this everybody is equal assumption, which is necessary to justify capitalism, there lies a world of other thoughts gone wrong. Lets start with the everybody is equal thought.

The media Images of the US and Europe

As an European citizen looking at the United States one can get a strange feeling. How is it possible that conservative Americans call a democrat a socialist, where a socialist would call that democrat a conservative. Or how is it possible that the Americans created the internet and companies like Apple, Cisco, Facebook and Twitter. But they think Denmark is the capital of the Netherlands. Or how is possible that a company like IBM builds a computer that is able to beat chess masters, but a shop assistant can not count 49 cents and 51 cents up to a dollar.

The Dutch political system

Although the Netherlands is a democratic kingdom, its political system is rather simple compared to that of other countries that have a democratic political system. As the system in the Netherlands is democratic it has voters and politicians that get voted into office. But compared to the political system of the United States with its two party system the Dutch system with over 40 parties seems complex. Another difference between the US and the Dutch system is that we vote only for three layers of government control. Although I should say with the start of the European parliament we now vote for four levels of government control. But let me first get the model of the Dutch political system out of the way, before I go into certain intricacies.

A model of political systems

Politics is the system humans use to spread the resources they have between the goals they have. So you might expect that there would be only one politcal system in which everybody has its say. But what we see is a world in which basically there are two systems and within those two systems there are a benign and a malign model.
The two systems are democracy and dictatorship or monocracy.
The benign model of democracy uses many parties to represent the goals people within the system have. Within this benign model of democracy all citizens are allowed to have their say about how the resources will be used to reach the goals. The malign model of democracy is the one party state in which people are only allowed to choose what goals will be achieved, after which they are expected to help achieve them.
The benign model of dictatorship is the enlightened monarch or dictator. A dictator that sees himself as a good parent and whishes the best for his fellow citizens. The malign model is the selfish dictator who uses his position to better his personal situation at the expense of others.
